Please help. Ants are every where. (my carpet, and since its deep blue I can’t see them well). I tried sealing windows, closing vents, chalk lines, Lysol (sprayed the crap out of them). There is not food in my room at all (I usually eat downstairs or in the office), and my mother has OCD and vacuums every 2-3 days. I’ve moved everything, checked every spot (closet, tv, bureau (which is rather heavy, I need my brother & dad to help), desk, bed, drawers). I noticed they usually are on top of my clothes on my drawer (which I leave out at night) and on my laptop (which I leave on my floor).
What can I do? (That’s cheap)

I am a 25 year old living in an apartment with my roommate. i dont like to get my hands too dirty. i sometimes drop food on the floor. i am a little OCD about keeping the floors vacuumed so the vacuum will be used almost every other day. i have a tile kitchen and everything else is carpeted so i need something that will vacuum them both. i want something with a handled wand so i dont have to bend down to unscrew the wand and attach it every time i want to use it. i want a wand that i can just lift up and use. my budget is
and i dont know about bagged vs bagless. i heard bagless keep suction better but are harder to empty and clean and bagged are easier to clean but lose suction after a while.. im hoping to keep this vacuum for about 2 years
if you know of any other vacuums on amazon that are around or less then let me know. i dont want a cheap one because i just got rid of a cheap one that sucked. not literally. if it literally sucked then it wouldnt suck so bad! lol
i would LOVE to get a dyson but i cant afford one right now.paying 0 on a vacuum that you keep for 6 years i think is a great deal. but again, my budget is crappy because i have to pay for my classes and stuff

I am a college student living in an apartment. sometimes we get food on the floor. i also am a little OCD about keeping the place vacuumed. i have a hard tile floor in the kitchen. We have a regular carpeted floor in the rest of the apartment
I am not a big fan of getting my hands dirty. I want powerful suction. I want to have a handled wand so i can get hard to reach places. But i dont like those wands that you have to attach the wand thing to every time. i would like the wand to already have a long pole already attached to it if you know what i mean.
My spending limit is .
i also need to know which is better, bagged or bagless. i heard that bagless are harder to clean and if that is true then that is a deal breaker. i want it easy to clean. but i also heard that bagged lose suction after a while and i want powerful suction.
here is what i have looked at so far

i am thinking about getting one of those 2 but i cant decide. any help?

A coworker of mine provided community flatware (forks, spoons & knives) and others hardly ever clean up after themselves. After recently seeing said food caked forks and knives in the sink, I asked this nice person who brought the flatware if it might be better if she took them all home. She asked why and I mentioned that our fellow coworkers don’t clean up and it’s disgusting, juvenile and much like college.
She said that she noticed that some of her items were missing and that it would be better to overlook such things (in other words, I should just wash the stuff and shut it). I’m thinking of buying plasticware, taking the good stuff home with me, cleaning them, drying them and then vacuum sealing them before returning them to the community drawer. P.S. the peeps not cleaning up are supervisor and higher.
Any thoughts on that?
The reason I would take the flatware home is two-fold: to clean them really well and to use my vacuum sealer to seal them up. Before doing this, I will of course put some new plastic forks, etc. in the community drawer.
Thanks for all the answers, you really put some perspective on the subject. I’m going to apologize to my co-worker/friend and get some plasticware for the community drawer. This camel’s back is repaired.

I use my Foodsaver for freezing, refrigerator and dry items.. But, my daughter in law said her family uses their food saver for canning. They get the jars fresh out of the dishwasher & hot and add the hot sauce/soup etc. Then vacuum seal it and store it on the shelf. The more I think of this the less I feel it is safe. Anyone have any feed back on this?

I ordered the item, but I did not get the handle part to get the air out, anyone know how to get the air out of the bag?
I am waiting for seller’s reply, but I don’t have time anymore, I need to pack right now.
Thanks.

What would be a better investment/solution for freezing food: a Foodsaver vacuum sealer with a nozzle, or the flat one?
http://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-FSMSSY0210-MealSaver-Compact-Vacuum-Sealing/dp/B002NGNBPA/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1287503804&sr=8-8

I like the idea that the first one can be used with containers, but it only comes with 2, and additional are very expensive. I won’t be freezing any soups or sauces, so the bags might just be enough…
Can anyone share experiences or advice?
Thank you!

So yea basically here are the rules.
1) Nothing super heavy.
2) Nothing that requires refrigeration.
3) No freeze dried foods (gross!)
Some other things to keep in mind, this is going to be a 12 day backpacking trip (thats why nothing super heavy.) We will have a fresh supply of water near by at all times so we can use that to cook things. Finally we have a pot & pan that can be used to cook over a portable stove top. Also please refrain from listing junkfoods, that end of things is easy to figure out…its the other stuff that has me stumped. Heres what we have so far:
Oatmeal
Pancakes
Potatoe Pancakes
Trail Mix
Nuts
Fruit/dried fruit
Granola Bars
Tuna (the kind thats vacuum sealed in a bag)
Pasta/small thing of sauce
Rice
Potates
Corn
Ramen Noodles
Bread
Crackers
Peanut Butter
Various Vegetables
Popcorn
Fruit leather
Please list as many things as you can think of, whoever can list the most conventional and useful ones will get 10pts. Thanks!
Good freaking point Steph! Thats an essential, Im a complete idiot

I’m just curious. I must be nesting. I completely tore apart our bedroom Wed morning before my dr’s appt. Packing up winter clothes for storage, washing the new babies clothes, packed our bags for the hospital. I’m 34 weeks 4 days now. I just came in from trimming the hedges with the electric hedge clipper! It was really hot so I was only out there 15 mins but I felt like I could be out there all day. I came in to cool off even though I REALLY didn’t want to. My DD came at 36 wks 5 days and they think this one will be about the same time. I didn’t nest this hard with her. I planted some small bushes right a few days before she was born. I’ve also had a bad pregnancy still taking Zofran every morning for nausea. I’ve had no energy and have been taking it pretty easy these last few weeks because I started with contractions at 30wks & they stopped them. I have no idea where this energy is coming from. I really, really want to go vacuum and wash my car!I know I will pay for it later if I do, and my DH just might kill me.
