Preparation Of Firearms & Ammunition

Purchasing guns & ammo NOW is very important. Proper long life ammo storage tips. Prices are expected to rise dramtically, and have been already. People are already reporting ammo can be hard to find in some states. If a crisis happens it is very important to be prepared. Now is the time, not when it happens. You may wake up one morning, and not be able to buy firearms or ammo. Or you may not be able to afford them. A gun I recently purchased has increased in price a great deal. Other gun owners have reported this also. What is the best way to properly store ammo for the long term? What is the best way to properly store ammo so that it doesn’t degrade over a period of time? And how do you keep it in proper condition so that when you finally put it to use, it functions as it was designed to? Perhaps we can take some tips from the military and the way that they treat their munitions. Military cartridges are designed to be stored at temperatures ranging from minus 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. They were created for soldiers to use under the worst conditions imaginable. These same cartridges also have an indefinite shelf life. The term shelf life refers to how long an item can remain in storage and still be functional. The companies that manufacture military ammo are well aware of their requirements and specifications. They are also well aware that if they do not meet the criteria, they will lose a rather large contract with the US Government. The

Vacuum Bagging for Adventure Actvities

This short video reviews a useful device for packing and preparation for adventure activities. I recently obtained a Fresh Saver Portable Vacuum Packing System that uses 1 quart and 1 gallon vacuum packing bags. The rechargable unit is small and portable. This is going to make a huge impact on how I assemble and prepare kits for outdoor activities. Cache Tube Revisited & Vacuum Packing Ammo

This video revisits the adventure cache tube with a subscriber suggested improvement for improved burial durability, as well as, vacuum packing ammo with a Food Saver. “A “jim” cap is a much better option than the plug, it can hold more pressure, is all rubber, water? proof and can be cut away with a knife if there is need. Plugs have a tendency to break easy..the bolt is galvanised but the wing nut is not and is its weakest link. No hub jim caps are designed for water proof burial.” – thank you to YouTuber jplerwill REACT 04-24 Reusable Easy Access Cache Tube An Easy to Build Adventure Cache Tube for approximately Size 4 x 24 inches Storage Volume 300 cubic inches (approximate) MATERIALS • Pre-Cut ABS Pipe 4 x 24 • 4-inch ABS Knock Out Inspection Cap • 4-inch Test Plug – OR- • 4-inch Rubber No-Hub “Jim” Cap • Small Tube Silicone Caulk • ABS Glue (silicone works great though) • 36 x 8-inch roll vacuum bag material • Food Saver Vacuum / Heat Seal Machine – or Clothes Iron Download the PDF file by clicking on the link below: www.box.net ALOKSAK® ELEMENT-PROOF BAGS www.loksak.com www.rei.com bepreparedtosurvive.com www.thewaterproofstore.com

042810 Simply Survival – Foodsaver Sucks, Part 2

Foodsaver food vacuuming system, part 2. Cool tunes from Dr. Authur. Kasin shows how to use a small nail hole in the jar lid to easily release jar vacuum. Using recycled Mylar in food storage. She discusses pros and cons of food preservation using Foodsaver poly-bags, Mylar bags, and canning jars. When using the poly-bags, the layered approach is better – a recycled Mylar bag inside a Foodsaver poly–bag, double sealed on both ends.
