Still looking for a good bag sealer?

I am still looking for a good bag sealer. I am tired of my chips, cereal and other bags foods going stale. I have the bag clips but they do not keep it fresh long enough. I want a good bag sealer that is going to actually seal up my bags and seal them good. Probably a small handheld or portable one. I am not looking for a vacuum sealer just something to re-seal my chip bags, cereal bags ect. after they are opened. Also for a good price. I am a momma on a tight budget. If anyone can help me out and let me know if they have one that actually works good.

Does anyone know why grain beetles would be on my bed?

I have birds and a rabbit in my room, but I’ve already cleaned them incase it’s them. I have all the rabbit food in a plastic sealed tub and the bird food in the freezer. I vacuum thouroughly every week and spray raid around my bed but I STILL find them crawling around occassionally. Any insight as to how else to get rid of them would be greatly appreciated! Or any pet safe pesticides that would do the trick? Thanks!

Can you carry vacuum sealed soup on the trail?

My wife and I are planning a backpacking trip for 6 days 5 nights. We were debating the food we wanted to carry, and her grandmothers soup is one of our favorite "quick" foods. (She normally cans it for us before winter) We want to know if we can seal it with a FoodSaver vacuum sealer, will it last us about a week? (It’s about a day trip between her house and the park) Also, I know all about dehydrating, but I would like to know what would be useful to vacuum seal and carry. Any meal plans or ideas would be nice also, thanks ahead for all *useful* answers.
**When I said she normally cans it for us, canning is a process by which she places the soup in a mason jar and pressurizes it. That’s why I want to move it to vaccum sealed bags, a much lighter solution.

Upstairs neighbor's stuff on my patio?

At first I had to deal with the aftermath of an unsupervised toddler upstairs throwing food (namely Cheetos and watermelon), toys, and other garbage in between the wooden slats of their balcony and it would fall on my patio. Not a big deal but still not pleasant. Then they must have tossed vacuum cleaner dust all over the area hoping the wind would catch it (because why should they have to throw it away in a garbage can?), and it also graced my patio. After speaking with the apartment management, my husband found trash bags left in front of his truck the next day; I guess they thought it would be funny if he ran them over but he obviously saw the bags and moved them out of the way.

I’ve taken pictures and told the apartment management, who keep calling my upstairs neighbors who deny everything. Unfortunately management said I basically would need to see who did it as it actually happened. Today I woke up to find a couple beer cans and smirnoff bottles around my patio and broken glass in front of my car; no one else in the nearby apartments had this.

At this point, can the apartment legally enter the upstairs apartment to see if there’s any evidence left of the beer boxes or smirnoff? Also I’m not sure if I can buy an expensive security camera for the minimal chance of catching them in the act, but I honestly feel like throwing their crap back up on their patio or at their front door. Any suggestions? Has anyone else dealt with this before? I really like the community, it’s just the upstairs neighbors who are acting very ghetto.

HELP! Ants in my apt =[?

About two days ago, a tiny black ant suddenly appeared crawling on my laptop screen. Then another. Then yesterday I caught two more…and today perhaps five. They are black and tiny, and I have a dark carpet on my floor so I can’t trace their trail. I don’t see any ants crawling on my walls or window seals or doorway or anywhere else (not even my kitchen area, and I don’t leave food out from the start)! Just one or two suddenly appear on my laptop/desk. I did end up killing them since I can’t trace them anyways, and I did my best to clear up by wiping with the clorox wipes (thought that might erase the trace of dead ants)…and now I am completely paranoid, can’t concentrate on work, keep looking for ants on my laptop/desk instead of working. I never had ant trouble before in my apt, and I don’t have a car so I can’t go to a store to buy any equipments for at least a week… Is there any thing I can do at this moment? I got a bottle of bug spray, clorox wipes, and a vacuum… ;_; please help!

Can I store different fruits together?

Can I use a nitrogen wine preserver and a vacuum sealer to preserve food without refrigeration?

I love hiking and rock climbing, but I hate the ridiculous cost and pretty awful taste of MRE’s or store bought "camping foods," so I want to make some of my own. My idea is that I can cook my own meals at home, which I know won’t taste like crap, (and which I can supplement during cooking with nutrition products to increase the carb count and protein) and then use a vacuum sealer to preserve the food in packages, much the same way that MRE’s are packaged. My concern, however, is spoiling due to bacteria and whatnot after packaging.

After looking into food preservation techniques, I found that nitrogen or other gases can be used to replace the oxygen and therefore inhibit bacterial and fungal growth through hypoxia, which is pretty obvious for anyone who’s taken biology. I happen to have a wine preserver that uses little canisters of nitrogen gas to prevent wine from oxidizing after opening. It even has a convenient injector needle type thing. My question is, would it be possible to store food for a while at room temperature (and keep in mind I’m not asking for years of shelf life, just a few weeks or even a few months) by vacuuming out the air and then injecting and promptly sealing the nitrogen gas into these packages?

please help with this question?

2. A water storage tank is 4.5 metres long, 4.5 metres wide, and 3.25 metres deep. The
tank is filled to the brim. The tank has a roof, but it may be assumed that standard
atmospheric pressure acts on the water surface.

(c) Calculate the depth of the centre of pressure on the side wall.
(d) The air above the water surface is evacuated, and the tank is sealed to ensure
that a perfect vacuum remains above the water surface. Recalculate the force
exerted by the water on the base of the tank.
